Alameda, CA – March 11th, 2025 – The Bay Area Breakers have made key roster moves ahead of the 2025 Major League Pickleball season, strengthening their squad with experienced talent and promising athletes.
In a major trade, the Breakers have acquired Darrian Young (DJ Young) from the Dallas Flash in exchange for Wyatt Stone and cash considerations. DJ Young, a dynamic and skilled player, returns to the Breakers with enthusiasm, ready to make an impact. Now fully healthy, DJ is looking forward to contributing to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
Additionally, the Breakers have traded Lingwei Kong and cash considerations to the New York Hustlers in exchange for Danna Funaro. A former Division 1 tennis player at Army West Point, Danna brings a strong competitive mindset and the collegiate-level mental toughness forged through disciplined training, high-pressure matches, and unwavering perseverance—qualities that the Breakers value in their athletes.
DJ and Danna join Allyce Jones and Eric Roddy to round out the team. With this roster, the Breakers show their commitment to building a strong and competitive team for the future.
The Breakers are excited to welcome DJ Young back home and introduce Danna Funaro to the team. With these strategic moves, the organization continues to build a roster poised for success in 2025 and beyond.
